During the first phase of PyrAnakampsi, meetings are held in the fire – affected villages by the project partners to explain to the local communities and stakeholders the post-fire situation and threats, to present potential future scenarios and to invite the locals to participate in co-planning the future, and to join in volunteer work to contain post-fire consequences.
The Laona Foundation is hosting the meetings in the Limassol and Larnaca districts, in collaboration with the organisation Phoenix, members of the Community Councils and other local organised groups.
Meetings took place in the villages: Ora, Odou, Akapnou, Ayioi Vavatsinias, Arakapa, Eptagonia, Vavatsinia, Lapithos/Lapta,Ayios Epiktitos/Catalköy and Ayios Amvrosios/Esentepe. During the meetings and after the presentation of the PyrAnakampsi project discussions took place on how the communities can get involved in the project, securing the best outcome for the fire-affected areas. The audience was also informed on how the communitites will be positively affected by the results of the project.
