Δεύτερη Ευρωπαϊκή Ημέρα Τοπίου Αναβαθμίδων στη Σαλαμιού
Στόχος της εκδήλωσης μας είναι να αναδείξουμε τον σημαντικό ρόλο του αγροτικού τοπίου με αναβαθμίδες και ξερολιθιές, ως πολιτιστική κληρονομιά αλλά και ως περιβαλλοντικής σημασίας, ελπίζοντας ότι μέσω αυτής της πρωτοβουλίας θα βοηθήσουμε στην αναγνώριση και κατά συνέπεια, την αναβίωση του ιδιαίτερου αυτού ζωντανού τοπίου καθιστώντας το ελκυστικό για τις επόμενες τις γενιές.

Διακοπτόμενοι από την πανδημία, είμαστε στην ευχάριστη θέση να ανακοινώσουμε τη διοργάνωση της Δεύτερης Ημέρας των Αναβαθμίδων και Ξερολιθιών (Terraced Landscapes). Η πρώτη εκδήλωση με αυτό το θέμα πραγματοποιήθηκε στο Vrtovin στη Σλοβενία το 2019.
Η φιλοσοφία των Ευρωπαϊκών Ημερών έχει καθιερωθεί στη Σλοβενία έχοντας ντόπιους ακτιβιστές ως πρωταγωνιστές. Η εκδήλωση γίνεται μαζί με την παρουσία του *Διεθνούς Οργανισμού Τοπίου Αναβαθμίδων ITLA (International Terraced Landscape Association).
Ο ΙΤLA συνεργάζεται με τοπικούς εταίρους, το Ίδρυμα Terract από τη Σαλαμιού (Βασιλική και Παναγιώτη Παναγιώτου), την αρχιτέκτονα Σεβίνα Φλωρίδου, και το Ίδρυμα Λαόνα για την πραγματοποίηση της Ευρωπαϊκής Ημέρας από 30 Οκτωβρίου έως 2 Νοεμβρίου. Στηρίζουν επίσης, ο Παγκύπριος Οργανισμός Αρχιτεκτονικής Κληρονομιάς, το ΕΤΕΚ Τμήματος Πάφου, κα.
Η άφιξη των συνέδρων θα γίνει στις 30 Οκτωβρίου, και η αναχώρηση στις 3 Νοεμβρίου. Στηρίζουν και συμμετέχουν ο Πρόεδρος και το Κοινοτικό Συμβούλιο Σαλαμιούς, όλα τα οργανωμένα σύνολα της κοινότητας, το Κέντρο Περιβαλλοντικής Εκπαίδευσης Σαλαμιούς, εθελοντές της Τουρκοκυπριακής κοινότητας και άλλοι.
Ο Πρόεδρος του ITLA, Dr. Timmi Tillman, με έδρα την Γερμανία (και το πανεπιστήμιο Coventry της Αγγλίας) θα βρίσκεται στη Σαλαμιού για όλες τις ημέρες της εκδήλωσης για παρουσιάσεις, εργαστήρια και ανταλλαγή εμπειριών.
Σε αυτήν την τετραήμερη περιπέτεια θα βυθιστείτε στη φιλοξενία και τις ζωντανές αγροτικές παραδόσεις των ιμή ορεινών χωριών της ενδοχώρας του νησιού. Θα βιώσετε τον μοναδικό χαρακτήρα του οικείου τοπίου, την ομορφιά του, που πηγάζει από τη σοφία της παραγωγής τροφής των περασμένων αιώνων. Θα συμμετάσχετε σε παρουσιάσεις για ξερολιθικά τοπία αναβαθμίδων και εργαστήρια που θα διδάξουν την κατασκευή της ξερής δόμησης.
Κυρίως η προσέλευση σας θα παρέχει έμπνευση στους ντόπιους βοηθώντας να οραματιστούν μαζί πώς να αντιστρέψουν το φαινόμενο της εγκατάλειψης αυτής της μοναδικής κληρονομιάς των τοπίων με αναβαθμίδες.

Interrupted by the pandemic we are glad to announce the organisation of the Second Day of Terraced Landscapes (after the first day in Vrtovin in Slovenia in 2019). The principle of the European Days has been established in Slovenia by having local activists becoming the protagonists of the European Day. ITLA cooperates with local partners from Salamiou (Vassiliki and Panayiotis) for the realisation of the European Day from 30 of October till 2 November. Arrival is on the 30th, departure on the 3rd of November.
Terraced Landscapes and Dry Stone Walls
This autumn, we invite you on a journey to Salamiou on the stunning island of Cyprus to discover our local traditions of truly amazing historic terraced landscapes. You will learn the timeless technique of building drystone walls from experienced masons and you will be discussing creative and innovative ideas for the phenomenon of the abandoned Terraced Landscapes and their adaptive restoration.
Together we will visit some of the island’s beautiful landscapes, hidden heritage sites and historical landmarks. At night we will enjoy local wine from vines that have been grown in the region for generations and learn about local history from people that have been working with the land with love and dedication. Prepare yourself to taste a selection of rich Lagria Wines and local traditional dishes all celebrated with accompanying Cypriot folk music and dance.
On this three day adventure you will immerse yourselves in the hospitality and rural traditions of the island, experience its unique character, unique traits and beauty, participate in presentations and workshops and provide inspiration to the locals helping to envision together how to reverse the phenomenon of the abandonment of this unique heritage of terraced landscapes.
Accommodation
Participants will be accommodated in delightful stone houses in the village Salamiou. You will be surrounded by traditional charm in this peaceful mountain setting amidst the warm autumn days which will allow you to take advantage of the outdoor spaces and planned activities of nature walks, safari drives and construction workshops at the dry-stone walls.
Our local cooks will lovingly provide a seasonal Greek menu that will tantalize your taste buds.
Cost of Food and Lodging
The budget for the 4 days in Salamiou has been established covering the costs of food and lodging in beautiful renovated stone houses – staying in double room it will be 280 €, while staying in a room with single occupancy costs 360 €.
