LIFE-AgrOassis Presented at the GREEN TALENT Workshop
On 31 March 2026, the LIFE-AgrOassis project was presented at the first GREEN TALENT Cyprus Demonstration Hub workshop, held at The Cyprus Institute. The event was organised by The Cyprus Institute, the Open University of Cyprus and Sust. Metrics Ltd, with the aim of fostering collaboration among research organisations, public authorities, businesses and civil society stakeholders to address the challenges of climate change and biodiversity loss.
During the workshop, Dr Savvas Zotos presented the progress and results of the European LIFE-AgrOassis project, which develops and implements innovative solutions to enhance the resilience of agricultural regions threatened by desertification in Cyprus and Greece. The project supports climate change adaptation in the agricultural sector through regenerative agriculture practices and sustainable soil management.
Particular emphasis was given to project actions focusing on:
- improving soil quality through mulching and minimum or no-tillage practices,
- establishing resilient hedgerows in degraded or fire-affected agricultural land, and
- producing and applying compost for the restoration of degraded soils.
The workshop provided an important opportunity for knowledge exchange and networking among participants, while highlighting the importance of cooperation between research institutions, farmers, organisations and local communities in developing sustainable solutions for climate change adaptation.
The GREEN TALENT project is funded by the European Union under the Horizon Europe Programme, Grant Agreement No. 101217375.
